So this weekend, I was invited to check out and watch the USA vs. England world cup game at the Nike Montalban Theater. The line was ridiculous, it wrapped around the block on both sides of the entrance. Luckily we slipped right in. First and foremost Nike, hands down, has the best team of visual merchandisers. All the displays were relevant, unique and more importantly beautifully composed. The day was filled with events, after the USA game, it was the semi/final round of their Roof Top Soccer game, and there was also a Mr. Cartoon workshop. At the end of the day all the events ran without a hitch, It’s always good to see a company supporting fans and the actual sport itself, because everything was free… and who doesn’t like free stuff? If your in the LA area, and your a soccer fan, Nike Montalban will be showing most of the World Cup games. All you have to do is RSVP on their website for the particular game you wanna watch, and then GO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!

The theater was filling up with some pretty eager and rowdy fans, which generated the best World Cup atmosphere I have ever experienced. We got our food and drink on and headed straight for our seats, impatiently waiting for the game to start.
seats.
anticipation.
YES!!!!
gameface.
I was on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole game because Stevie Gerrard put in the first goal for England in the 4th minute. The man’s a class act, it was a well deserved goal, but the US needed to score. In the 40th minute the mob at the Montalban erupted as Clint Dempsey “luckily” got some net. All I can say is Tim Howard is a BEAST, he got kicked in the chest and still prevented 17 shots on the goal from going in. All in all it was a great match, and there’s definitely some potential for USA this year.
Mr. Cartoon X USA Soccer
I had to pick up some of the gear Mr. Cartoon designed for USA.

what all the blood and sweat is for....
Goooooaaalllll!!!!
Roof top soccer was fun…. but needed way more practice.I probably should have kicked the ball around a little more instead of taking all these pics but oh well. There were tons of spectators, along with fans that watched the game downstairs, they were all very supportive of all the teams. Free booze and food turned the Roof Top game into a party which is always fun. After the games, I had a chance to check out Mr. Cartoon’s workshop, where he was showing kids the gift of art. They all had a chance to make their own pieces of art with the guidance and help of the main man himself if they needed. It is always great to see people like this, especially a man of his caliber give back to his community.
Mr. Cartoon
At the end of the day, I saw and experienced some amazing things and met some great people. Thanks again for the hookup Em!
